Mid-day Safari at Masai

After having a sumptuous breakfast, we had a walk around the resort where I saw a few colorful birds playing along the trees, hiding from the scorching sun. At the main entrance of the resort, there was an empty road with a lonely tree standing in the middle of the scene. It looked so beautiful, so i took an HDR photograph of that scene.

And then, we set off for our mid-day safari. On the way into the forest, we saw a few baboons and nothing much. Due to the hot sun, all the animals had probably found a shade for them to rest. We almost thought we wouldn't be able to spot any, when to our surprise, we got information through the radio communication system that another group had spotted a leopard. Well thanks to the Kenyan Mobile Communications organization for the strong signals of communication anywhere amidst the dense forest. On hearing that, we rushed to the place and saw for ourselves a beautiful leopard sitting on a tree. Then our well-experienced guide, took us way nearer to the tree than any of the others. Never closer than this, had I seen any wild animal before. Since many jeeps were parked surrounding the tree, the leopard was a bit frightened to get down, but still after a few minutes managed to climb down the tree and walked to a nearby water source to quench its thirst. What a wonderful sight it was !

Then it was time for lunch, so we started back to the resort. I just clicked a few common animals on the way back. A giraffe and an elephant that were in fact quite close to our resort.
